How do you represent an image where no image is available? You could write in big letters “no photo available” but that’s distracting. You could remove the image but that throws off the page layout. How about put up a soft toned image that is both non-distracting and keeps the integrity of the page layout.

It's a new year and time for a new design. What you see before you is not some pre-built template from a design factory but a 100% All-American original. I set the layout in Photoshop, then took my Blogspot template and twisted the heck out of it. Threw in some jQuery and a little CSS3 and Walla! Images are hosted on Google's Picasa.

When asked to come up with a splash graphic for our new iPhone app I immediately knew what the challenges were and how I would go about solving for them.
